Buro Happold collaborated with HOK Sport and HOK International to develop a competition masterplan to upgrade the existing racecourse, grandstand and equestrian facilities within the realms of a larger site wide masterplan. The proposed development, outside of the equestrian facility upgrades, include residential villas and tower blocks, with features including a town centre (including retail, food and entertainment), a large shopping mall, hotel and equestrian country club.
A multi-disciplinary approach was adopted with key focuses on utility land sterilisation, transportation for event and non event day scenarios, equestrian/race course design, environment and ecology impacts, grandstand design and lighting strategies.
