Marks Barfield is the internationally renowned, award-winning team behind the creation of the London Eye. Over the last 10 years MBA has won over 50 awards, including Architecture Practice of the Year Award, and the Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Innovation).

Mona Hatoum

Mona Hatoum was born to Palestinian parents in Beirut in 1952. On a visit to London in 1975, she was prevented from returning to Lebanon by the outbreak of civil war. She graduated from Byam Shaw School of Art (1979) and the Slade School of Fine Art (1981) in London.

Antony Gormley

Antony Gormley was born in 1950. He studied archaeology, anthropology and history of art at Trinity College, Cambridge before travelling to India to study Buddhism for three years. He received his MA from the Slade in 1979.

Graham Day

Graham Day was born in London in 1946 and studied at Bath Academy of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art. He has held solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, Tehran, Lebanon and the UK.

Jawad Botmeh

Jawad Botmeh began painting while serving a long prison sentence as a victim of a miscarriage of justice. Painting created an important third space between inside and outside prison that allowed him to express his identity as a Palestinian political prisoner. He also works with ceramics and sculpture and exhibited his work in London in 2003.

Maliheh Afnan

Maliheh Afnan was born in Haifa to Iranian parents but left for Beirut in 1949. She studied at the American University of Beirut, the Corcoran School of Art (Washington DC), and for a MA in Fine Arts at George Washington University (1962). From 1963, she lived in first Beirut, then Kuwait and Paris before moving to London where she has lived since 1997.

Abdulmajid Karanouh

Abdulmajid Karanouh is a Lebanese architect. He did his mater at the University of East London in Architectural Computing. He proceeded to master Facade engineering at Bath University.
