The most critical phase in the construction of the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Centre in Kazhakstan was successfully completed yesterday with the erection of its 150 metre-high tripod mast. The 2,000 tonne structure was lifted into place by four cranes in a process that took two weeks.

Massar Children Discovery Center
Designed to embrace and re-interpret traditional visual themes of Syrian culture, the Massar Children’s Discovery Centre is built on the site of the old International Fairground in the centre of Damascus. Its site is the bed of the old Barada River, and the structure takes its inspiration from the Damask rose – creating a shell that allows for a dazzling display of light on the inner spaces.
Ras El Khimah Gateway
Sheik Saud and Rakeen of Ras Al-Khaimah has appointed Snøhetta the prestigious task of creating an iconic gateway building for the new capital city of Ras Al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates. The approx. 300,000 m2 complex will contain a Congress Center, Exhibition Halls, Shopping Center, 5+ Star Hotel, 5 Star Hotel, and a 4 Star Hotel.
Sidra Trees
The project is the entrance structure to a new convention centre located on the main campus at Education City in Doha. The steelwork structure is based on the Sidra tree which is the symbol of the Qatar Foundation.
The complex tree-like steel structures support the roof of the entrance foyer to the new national convention centre which is being constructed on site. The trees are of free form geometry and constructed of fabricated box girders clad in singly and doubly curved steel plates.
King Abdullah International Gardens
Barton Willmore have been successfully appointed as designers for extensive Botanical Gardens commissioned by King Abdullah, for a site to the South West of Riyadh. The commission is set within the arid desertifi cation of Jordan, but the brief sought to create botanical gardens to rival those at Kew and Singapore.
