Work has started on site for the new Atkins-designed residential ‘Pier 8’ development which, when complete, will form a prominent landmark at the Dubai Marina, the city’s major new cosmopolitan waterfront development. The 40-storey, 170 metre-tall tower comprises a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom serviced apartments which will be managed by Radisson.

The Lighthouse
The Lighthouse is another innovative green skyscraper to be constructed in Dubai. For energy generation, it will have three enormous 225 kilowatt wind turbines (29 meters in diameter), and 4000 photovoltaic panels on the south facing facade. To optimize performance and operational periods, the turbines have windward directional wind vanes or limited yaw.
Jumeirah Gardens Master Plan
Meraas Development has commissioned Chicago architect Adrian Smith from Gordan Gill Architecture to design four new projects as part of the Jumeirah Garden master plan. The projects - 1 Dubai, 1 Park Avenue, and Park Gate and Meraas tower- are part of the Jumeirah Garden master plan which is under construction and expected to be completed over the next 12 years.

New York based RUR Architects has unveiled their design for this 22-storey tall commercial tower in Dubai. Perched on a two-storey podium the 0-14 tower is to break ground the first week of December 2006 in the heart of Business Bay in Dubai. The building comprises 300,000 square feet and the design for O-14 is for a tower sheathed in a forty centimeter-thick concrete shell perforated by over 1,000 openings that create a lace-like effect on the building’s façade. The shell is not only the structure of the building, it acts as a sunscreen open to light, air, and views.

This Project is still in a competition stage. It is an invited competition where some usual suspect architects are invited to join and submit.
Dubai City Tower
The proposal for the Dubai City Tower also known as the Dubai Vertical City was announced on 25 August 2008. The 2.4 kilometer (1.5 miles) tower to be built in Dubai in 2015. If built, the Dubai City Tower will be the third tallest building ever fully envisioned after the X-Seed 4000 and the Ultima Tower.
